James Bazeley

BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA ARB

James studied at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Westminster University, graduating in 2009 and qualifying as a registered architect in 2010. Before joining UNIT in late 2011, James worked for the London based practices Bennetts Associates, David Miller Architects and Barrett Lloyd David Associates. During this period he gained invaluable experience on projects across a number of different scales and typologies including large-scale award-winning sustainable civic developments, hospitality, commercial office space, education, social housing, heritage work and high-end private residential projects, actively working on all of the work stages from inception to completion. Since joining UNIT James has been Project Architect on a number of significant projects, including, amongst others, a substantial mixed use and regeneration scheme in the heart of Whitechapel, which included over 600 residential units, 10,000 square metres of retail and community space and the design and landscaping of two new large public squares and extensive shared residential gardens. Previous projects have also included a scheme for a football stadium, incorporating a significant mix-used development, for a premiership football club, a six hectare office headquarters campus for a FTSE 100 company and the development of a new interior concept for one of the country’s largest retailers. James has a particular interest in sustainable urbanism and landscaping, and is instrumental in developing the practices approach to this subject. He is also a key member of the team that helps develop and support the practice’s approach to graphics and presentation.
